Bahrul-Uloom Hazrat Allamah Muhammad Abdul Qadeer Siddiqi (r.a.) popularly known as, Hasrat Siddiqi (R.A.) (1871 A.D -1962 A.D) is a renowned scholar of Hyderabad Deccan, popularly known as a Bahrul Uloom (an ocean of knowledge) and Ustad ul Ulama (teacher of scholars).

He was born in a renowned scholarly family in Hyderabad Deccan on Friday, 27th of Rajab, 1288 AH (13 October, 1871 A.D).

His paternal lineage belongs to Hazrat AbuBakar Siddique over 28 generations . He accomplished Munshi Fazil and Maulvi Fazil degrees from the Punjab University with distinctions. He served as a teacher at Darul Uloom which was an esteemed college in Hyderabad Deccan and later at Osmania University, where he was appointed professor and Head of the Religious Studies Department.

His famous Tafseer of the Holy Quran, “Tafseer e Siddiqui” has been published in India and Pakistan. In 1941, a research paper “Masʾālat Adam al-Naskh fī al-Qurʾān” (The Problem of Abrogation not Occurring in the Holy Qurʾān), was published by the Hyderabad Academy in which he proved that no verses of the Holy Quran were abrogated. His compilation of Books, “Al Deen” (Kitab-ul- Ilm – The Book of Knowledge, Kitabula Islam - The Book of Islam, Kitab-ul-Iman - The book of Faith and Kitab-ul-Ihsan - The Book of Excellence) were part of Fiqh Curriculum of the Osmania University.

He has translated Sheikh Muhayyudin ibn Al-Arabi’s renowned book Fuṣūṣ al-Ḥikam (Bezels of Wisdom), which is very popular. He authored several books of taṣawwuf (Sufism), which include Hikmat e Islamia, Al-Maarif, Al-Irfan, Al-Tawheed (Persian), and Makateeb-e-Irfan.

He is known by the pseudonym “Hasrat” and his poetic verses are in several different languages including Urdu, Persian, Arabic and Hindi. Kulyat e Hasrat is a collection of his poetic works which has been published.

He died on the 17 of Shawwal, 1381 AH (24 March, 1962 AD).
