Chapter 16

Chapter: On Love and Enmity for the Sake of Allah

Love and Enmity for Allah's Sake

"Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; and those with him are forceful against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves." (Al-Fath, 48:29). Love for the sake of Allah (al-hubb fillah) is one of the strongest pillars of faith. The believers form a single body of mercy, solidarity, and mutual care.

Narrated by Abu Umama (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Whoever loves for Allah, hates for Allah, gives for Allah, and withholds for Allah has indeed completed his faith.' (Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi)

Narrated by Abu Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Allah the Exalted says on the Day of Resurrection: Where are those who loved one another for My Majesty? Today I shall shade them in My shade, for there is no shade today except My shade.' (Muslim — Mishkāt al-Maṣābīḥ)
