The Interworld (Barzakh)

The Interworld (Barzakh): The first example [in the exemplary world] is before death, and after death comes the second example (mithāl thānī). Some saints attribute the word mithāl (example) to the word mabʿad-e-mawt (post-death), but barzakh refers to the capacity of the world which is established between death and resurrection — the Interworld (Barzakh) is like a preamble to the World of Resurrection, a state in which the virtuous are in a state of anticipation and honor, and the wicked are in a state of humiliation.
The barzakh maintains a connection between those in the barzakh and those in the World of Witnessing (the living) — however, a certain veil is placed over them in general which prevents them from speaking clearly. They sometimes convey hints through symbols — in the dreams of those who come after death, they give their message. They come up to those in the barzakh — from a distance of two miles or from a great distance — they come and talk in dreams. If the inhabitants of the barzakh were to come and speak clearly to those in the World of Witnessing, then appearing in this world of witnessing, beneath the laws and principles of this world, would be impossible — rather, to hear or see something this way is within the laws and principles of this world and is beneath them.
Umm Sa'd's death — after Hazrat died, in a gathering in the presence of the blessed, something was said — 'Hādhihi li-Umm Sa'd' — from its connection to the reward of the deceased and from Umm Sa'd's side it is proved that with it are some issues that require careful consideration.
