Salvation of the Muslim — Intercession
نجات مسلم — شفاعت
Salvation of the Muslim (Nijāt-e-Muslim): We have stated before that it is correct and right to do good deeds in this world — that is, the Muslim will receive the reward of his good deeds and the one who does greater deeds will also receive — there are two kinds: (1) The repentant (tā'ib) (2) The non-repentant (ghayr tā'ib). If he repents, he is saved from any punishment — the non-repentant's salvation is of two kinds: either the Prophet's (peace be upon him) intercession will save him, or else some of his deeds will save him — or he will receive some punishment and some salvation.
"O Allah! I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your anger; and in Your pardon from Your punishment; and I seek refuge in You from You." — also: Allahumma arinā haqā'iqa al-ashyā' kamā hiya wa tawaffanā muslimīn wa alhiqnā bi'l-sālihīn — O Allah, show us the realities of things as they truly are, and cause us to die as Muslims and join us with the righteous.
Intercession (Shafā'at): Is intercession the right of Allah? If so, what is the meaning of 'the love of Allah is one unified act'? Can a strong force truly nullify a weak force? The good deeds accumulate and become stronger — so the intercession of the Prophet (peace be upon him) will come and the repentance will save them.
إِنَّ الْحَسَنَاتِ يُذْهِبْنَ السَّيِّئَاتِ
"Indeed, good deeds eliminate evil deeds." (Sūrat Hūd, 11:114)
The intercession of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is true — it is not comparable to the redemption of Jesus (peace be upon him). Jesus (peace be upon him) took the sin upon himself — against this is the principle: no bearer of burdens bears the burden of another (lā taziru wāziratun wizra ukhrā). Here the love of Allah in the Divine is an expectation of the mercy of Allah to descend.
Yes, to them is the great difficulty — those for whom the Prophet is closer to the mu'minīn than their own souls — those who deny intercession: there is no faith in them, no bond — the one who denies intercession will be deprived and will spend days and nights in this supplication: Allāhuma innī as'aluka hubbak wa hubba man yuhibbuka wa hubba 'amalin yuqarribunī ilayk — O Allah, I ask You for Your love, and for the love of those who love You, and for love of deeds that will bring me close to You. For them intercession is truly established.
