Chapter 27

Bab fi al-Mala'ikah

Regarding the Angels

2. The second is "Lawwamah" - This is what is called Conscience. The person commits an error, becomes involved in sins. But with its instruction, the person becomes aware of his error. Those whose Murshid (spiritual guide) keeps them attentive to their errors internally, both outwardly and inwardly, keeps rebuking them. And since the Murshid is in humans, it has an affinity with them. For this reason, its teaching makes the human accept.

3. The third is "Nafs-e-Mutmainnah," this remains still. Restlessness does not reach it. There is another division. (Meaning of the Nafs) Bad belief is a thought, just as we just said, "O brothers! Grasp the 'Power of Anger'." Overcoming people. Humans want the manifestation of God's perfections. Because of this, they want to prevail over everyone. The second is "Power of Desire," seeking a full stomach, resting. Its example is a runaway horse. With this completely straying Nafs, one has an affair. What does Satan teach it? "You need food and clothes, and secondly, comfort and rest for yourself." To attain them, Satan teaches: take bribes, speak lies, obtain pleasures through unlawful means. The Nafs agrees to these teachings. The horse does mischief, and having let go of its reins, it does not keep them. Put a saddle on it, it gets startled, does mischief. But this horse, when trained, lets the rider mount, and what an excellent job it wants to do! Fasting during the day and spending the night in worship, getting up precisely on time from sleep. The people who eat food during the times of Eid are called "Saim al-Dahr" (perpetual fasters) out of unfamiliarity. When this Nafs becomes disciplined, it becomes "Mulhima" (inspired). You yourselves do good deeds and teach others too. The Nafs that becomes fully trained (disciplined), educated, then it gets the ability to distinguish between good and bad. It recognizes "Where did this danger come from?". From the inspirations passed by God, it distinguishes the dangers of others. These are "Rahmani" (divine) dangers/thoughts, they have strength and satisfaction within them. Like the owner of the house enters his house with satisfaction. Sometimes a person commits errors along with it. The second evil thought also comes. But since punishment comes, the Nafs fears it. May God save us from such thoughts. اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْكَ (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from You). The fourth danger is divine. As we just stated, it brings satisfaction. There is no room for doubt and suspicion. Restlessness and dissatisfaction have no entrance there. We just stated that through inspirations and the Nafs of Satan, it recognizes the deceptions. May Allah grant us all the true discernment of truth and falsehood by the grace of His Beloved, and grant us the divine ability to act upon good words. Amin.

عَلَيْهَا مَلَائِكَةٌ غِلَاظٌ شِدَادٌ لَّا يَعْصُونَ اللّٰهَ مَا أَمَرَهُمْ وَيَفْعَلُونَ مَا يُؤْمَرُونَ - (آیت ۶ - التحریم) *Translation:- The command of Allah the Exalted is: "O you who have faith! (Warning: This is a verse of prostration; if you read it, you must perform the prostration of recitation).*

وَقَالَ اللّٰهُ تَعَالٰی: لَهُ مُعَقِّبَاتٌ مِّنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِ يَحْفَظُونَهُ مِنْ أَمْرِ اللّٰهِ - (آیت ۱۱ - الرعد) *Translation:- And this is also the command of Allah the Exalted that "(For the protection of some person) there are angels in succession, who replace each other. Some in front of him and some behind him, who protect him by the command of God."*

وَقَالَ اللّٰهُ تَعَالٰی : مَا يَلْفِظُ مِنْ قَوْلٍ إِلَّا لَدَيْهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٌ - (آیت ۱۸ - ق)
