Bab fi al-Farah bi-Meeladihi
Rejoicing in the Prophet's Birth and Mission
O friends! Who is called a companion (rafiq)? The one who accompanies and helps you in the journey. We are traversing the journey of life, therefore who are our companions on this path? They are the Prophets, the truthful ones (Siddiqeen), the martyrs, and other Awliya (friends of Allah) who come in handy for us. They keep a watch on our mistakes.
O friends! Everyone claims love, but there should be some proof for it. What is the proof? Offering prayers, fasting, and remaining immersed in his remembrance. What is this? When the time comes to give the reins into the mouth, it holds back. (It keeps eating grass, drinking water, etc., and when the time comes to put the reins in its mouth, it becomes ready to comply with the command.) Love is such a thing that the one who has it becomes distinguished from strangers. Focusing the mind, establishing it on one thought, not keeping the thought of anything besides the form of the beloved, what happens from this? From this, it happens that his form starts resembling the form of the beloved. The beholder and the hearer say, "When you came, a glimpse of your friend was seen. At that time, you seemed to be saying something just like your friend." This is our experience. By constantly thinking of the beloved, the disposition becomes similar, the movements and actions become similar, and eventually, the form becomes the form of the beloved. O friends! Does anyone also attach the picture of their beloved to their eyes? Does anyone attach it to their heart? O friends! If you make the picture of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in your heart, keep in mind that if you do good deeds, you will get Paradise in return, you will meet houris, you will eat well, you will wear well. Spiritual love is a hidden thing. Its desired object will also be hidden. What will that be? If the beloved is met, what more is the benefit? The one we want, we found him. Manzoor-e-manzoor ae ahl-e dunya / Allah mera baqi tumhara (O people of the world, my desired object is the approved one / Allah is mine, the rest is yours)
بَابٌ : فِي الْفَرَحِ بِمِيلَادِهِ وَ مَبْعَثِهِ عَلَيْهِ الصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ *This chapter is regarding the explanation of rejoicing at the birth and the sending (as a prophet) of the Holy Prophet ﷺ*
قَالَ اللّٰهُ تَعَالٰى : يٰأَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنٰكَ شَاهِدًا وَّ مُبَشِّرًا وَّ نَذِيْرًا ۙ وَّ دَاعِيًا إِلَى اللّٰهِ بِإِذْنِهِ وَ سِرَاجًا مُّنِيْرًا ۙ وَ بَشِّرِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ بِأَنَّ لَهُمْ مِّنَ اللّٰهِ فَضْلًا كَبِيْرًا ۙ (الاحزاب - آیت ۴۵ تا ۴۷) *Translation:- Allah Almighty says: "O Prophet, indeed We have sent you as a witness and a bringer of glad tidings (to the believers) and a warner (to the disbelievers) and one who invites to Allah, by His command, and an illuminating lamp. And give glad tidings to the believers that they will have a great bounty from Allah."*
وَقَالَ اللّٰهُ تَعَالٰى : وَمَا أَرْسَلْنٰكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِّلْعٰلَمِيْنَ - (الانبياء - آیت ۱۰۷)
---
Translation:- And Allah Almighty says: "And We have not sent you, O Prophet, except as a mercy to the worlds."* وَقَالَ اللّٰهُ تَعَالٰى : قُلْ بِفَضْلِ اللّٰهِ وَبِرَحْمَتِهِ فَبِذٰلِكَ فَلْيَفْرَحُوْا - (یونس - آیت ۵۸) *Translation:- And Allah Almighty also says this: "O Prophet, say to the Muslims that upon the bounty of Allah and His mercy, let them rejoice."
*Man yamunnu minna*: To place under an obligation. *Ba'atha*: Sent, raised. *Yuzakkeehim*: Purifies them. *Yatlu*: Recites. *Translation:- And Allah Almighty also commands this: "Certainly did Allah confer a [great] favor upon the Muslims, the believers, when He sent among them a Messenger from themselves, reciting to them His verses, communicating His commands to them, and purifying them from sins and teaching them the Book and wisdom, although they had been before in manifest error."*
وَقَالَ اللّٰهُ تَعَالٰى : اُذْكُرُوْا نِعْمَةَ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ جَعَلَ فِيْكُمْ أَنْبِيَاءَ - (المائدة - آیت ۲۰) *Translation:- And the command of Allah Almighty is also this that remember the favor of Allah upon you when He appointed prophets among you.*
وَقَالَ اللّٰهُ تَعَالٰى : وَاَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ - (الضحى) *Translation:- And the divine command is also this that "And as for the favor of your Lord (which encompasses you), report [it]." (Meaning, acknowledgment, gratitude and expressing the favor by tongue is also necessary).*
وَقَالَ اللّٰهُ تَعَالٰى : وَاذْكُرُوْا نِعْمَةَ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْكُمْ - (البقرة - آیت ۲۳۱) *Translation:- And the divine command is also this that "And remember the bounty and favor of Allah upon you, recount it, mention it."*
وَقَالَ اللّٰهُ تَعَالٰى : وَاذْكُرْ فِى الْكِتٰبِ مَرْيَمَ - (مريم - آیت ۱۶) *Translation:- And thus is the divine command that "O Prophet! Mention in this Book, Mary as well."*
وَقَالَ اللّٰهُ تَعَالٰى : وَاذْكُرْ فِى الْكِتٰبِ مُوْسٰى - (مريم - آیت ۵۱) *Translation:- And thus is the divine command that "O Prophet! Mention in this Book, Moses as well."*
O friends! Is there any grace of God greater than being elevated to the station of Prophethood by the accepted Messenger ﷺ?!
---
Could there be any bounty greater than this for us? Allah Almighty has commanded us to recount His bounties and favors, and to rejoice. Therefore, we celebrate the joy of the birth of the beloved Prophet ﷺ and the sending of his Prophethood, and we recount his mention, and surely we will. Ba qawl-e Amjad / Ab jale aag mein meri sawkan (In the words of Amjad / Now let my co-wife burn in the fire)
O friends! Here a "Qiyas" (syllogism) is being established (Qiyas is a term of logic). It is the bounty of God that the Prophet ﷺ exists (which is proven from a "text of the Qur'an"), and to mention the bounty of God is a "text of the Qur'an", a divine command. And a Qiyas is also this, that the prophethood of the accepted Messenger ﷺ is a bounty of Allah and a mercy, and upon the bounty of Allah and His mercy, rejoicing without bounds is a divine command. O friends! Combine the two Qiyas, the conclusion is your task to extract.
Rejoice in the coming and prophethood of the Messenger, and give glad tidings to one another. Say like this, "Eid Milad-un-Nabi Mubarak." Let the enemies of the accepted Messenger burn. You do your own work. Be happy and keep your friends, relatives, and dear ones happy. Hold gatherings of Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ, but with respect that befits the majesty of the holy presence ﷺ. Ba khuda diwana bash o ba Muhammad hoshiyar (Be mad with God, and be cautious/respectful with Muhammad)
Remember this too! Whenever the holy mention of the Master, upon him be peace and blessings, was made in the presence of Sayyidah An-Nisabah Bibi Fatima Zahra (RA), she would stand up out of joy. Similarly, if the Master were to grace the house of Sayyidah Batool, Sayyidah would stand up and welcome the Master. Therefore, when we mention the birth of Mustafa ﷺ, we will stand up, sacrifice our lives and souls for him, and sway in joy, and we will say: Hum ko mubarak aqa hamara / Sardar-e aalam haq ka pyara (Blessed to us is our Master / The leader of the universe, the beloved of God) We will embrace each other and express our happiness. Whoever wishes to join in this happiness, let them come and enjoy. Chashm-e maa roshan dil-e maa shad / Yeh mehfil-e milad hai / Har ek yahan sarshaar hai (Our eyes are bright, our hearts are joyous / This is the gathering of Milad / Everyone is intoxicated here) Do not pay attention to the enemies of the Messenger. Leave them to their deeds, you do your own work. Mujh ko kya kaam saray jahan se / Tum raho aur tumhara darshan (What business do I have with the whole world / May you remain, and the sight of you)
O friends! In the Holy Qur'an, where the divine commands are repeatedly mentioned: mention this prophet, mention so-and-so event, remind of Bibi Maryam, remind of Prophet Musa. The mention of the birth of Prophet Isa, the birth of Prophet Yahya, and the story of the birth of Prophet Musa (AS) are present in the Holy Qur'an. In place after place, the command "Uthkur", "Uthkuroo" (mention, remember) is present. "Amr" (command) denotes obligation. Therefore, O lovers of Mustafa! You should also make mention of the birth of the Prophet ﷺ. Remember this! The greater the bounty, the greater the obligation of gratitude. Shukr-e nemat haaey to chandan keh nemat haaey to (The gratitude for Your bounties should be as much as Your bounties) And remember this too! The way you thank Allah for His bounties, Allah Almighty will also bestow His bounties on you in that same manner.
