Bab fi Ta'dheemihi

His Veneration ﷺ, and that Veneration is Not Worship

are such that they attempted to have themselves called the likeness of Hazrat Isa (AS), the likeness of Krishna ji, and Mahdi as well.

Remember this! It is in Sunan Abu Dawud that Hazrat Mahdi (AS) will be from the descendants of Hazrat Imam Hasan Mujtaba (AS). His mother's name will be Aminah and his father's name will be Abdullah. Besides this, many other signs have also been told.

Even at this time a person comes to me and claims prophethood. He has neither knowledge nor piety. Yes, looking at him, he has a long beard and a small body. He is an embodiment of ignorance. I asked a few questions and it became known that: وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيْهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ (Meaning, she threw out what was inside her and remained purely an ignorant idiot). But when he spoke his dialect, it became clear that: *There is a hidden donkey in the lion's dress.* اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَعُوْذُبِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَسِيْحِ الدَّجَّالِ وَنَعُوْذُبِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَحْيَا وَفِتْنَةِ الْمَمَاتِ - (آمين) *O Allah! We seek refuge in You from the fitna of the False Messiah (Dajjal), and we seek refuge in You from the trials of life and the trials of death. (Amin)*

بَابٌ : فِيْ تَعْظِيْمِهِ عَلَيْهِ الصَّلُوةُ وَالسَّلَامُ وَأَنَّ التَّعْظِيْمَ غَيْرُ الْعِبَادَةِ Chapter: On the veneration (Ta'zim) of His Eminence, upon whom be blessings and peace, and that veneration is not worship.

قَالَ اللهُ تَعَالىٰ : وَمَنْ يُعَظِّمْ شَعَائِرَ اللهِ فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ تَقْوَى الْقُلُوْبِ - (آیت ۳۲ - الحج) Words:- *Yu'azzim*: venerates, respects, honors. *Sha'air*: plural of sha'irah, signs, sacrifices, monuments.

Translation:- Allah Almighty says, "And whoever venerates the signs of Allah Almighty, the monuments, it points to the piety of his heart."

قَالَ اللهُ تَعَالىٰ : إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنٰكَ شَاهِدًا وَ مُبَشِّرًا وَ نَذِيْرًا ۝ لِتُؤْمِنُوْا بِاللهِ وَرَسُوْلِهِ وَتُعَزِّرُوْهُ وَتُوَقِّرُوْهُ ۝ (آيت ۸، ۹ - الفتح) Words:- *Shahidan*: one who gives testimony, one who gives witness, one who observes.

From this it is clearly apparent that His Eminence the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is an observer of our deeds, we the listeners. Only then will he give testimony. The testimony of the one who sees an event with his own eyes is considered reliable, otherwise *Hearing is not like seeing*. *Mubashshiran*: Bearer of glad tidings, one who gives good news. He gives glad tidings of things he is aware of and has seen. Otherwise, what glad tidings will an ignorant, unacquainted person give? Therefore, Allah Almighty made His Eminence tour Paradise and Hell in this physical body and senses during the Ascension (Mi'raj). Therefore, Hazrat the Messenger of Allah ﷺ will give glad tidings to the righteous, the cause of those deeds being Paradise and the vision of God, and will frighten the bad doers with the punishment of Hell for their bad deeds. Thus the Master is a giver of glad tidings for the righteous and a warner for the bad doers. ---

Translation:- And Allah Almighty also says this - "O Prophet! We have indeed sent you as a witness and a bearer of glad tidings and a warner. So that O people! You believe in Allah and His Messenger. Honor Him (the Messenger), respect and revere Him."

قَالَ اللهُ تَعَالىٰ : لَا تَجْعَلُوْا دُعَاءَ الرَّسُوْلِ بَيْنَكُمْ كَدُعَاءِ بَعْضِكُمْ بَعْضًا - (آیت ۶۳ - النور) Words:- *La taj'alu*: Do not make, do not form, do not consider. *Du'a*: calling, summoning. *Kadu'ai ba'dikum ba'dan*: Just like some of you call out to others, one gives a shout to another.

Translation:- And Allah Almighty says: (O people!) Do not address the Messenger in the way that some of you address one another and call out to each other.

قَالَ اللهُ تَعَالىٰ : إِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ يُنَادُوْنَكَ مِنْ وَّرَاءِ الْحُجُرَاتِ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْقِلُوْنَ ۝ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ صَبَرُوْا حَتّٰى تَخْرُجَ إِلَيْهِمْ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ وَاللهُ غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِيْمٌ - (آیت ۴، ۵ - الحجرات) Words:- *Hujurat*: rooms (plural of hujrah). *Wara'*: behind.

Translation:- This too is the decree of Allah Almighty - "O Prophet! Those who call out to you from outside the rooms, most of them lack understanding. And if they had waited, had patience, until you yourself came out to them, it would have been better for them, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful."

قَالَ اللهُ تَعَالىٰ : يٰاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ آمَنُوْا لَا تَرْفَعُوْا أَصْوَاتَكُمْ فَوْقَ صَوْتِ النَّبِيِّ - (آیت ۲ - الحجرات) Translation:- And Allah Almighty also says this - "O you who believe! Do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet."

قَالَ اللهُ تَعَالىٰ : وَلَوْ لَا فَضْلُ اللهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ لَمَسَّكُمْ فِيْمَا أَفَضْتُمْ فِيْهِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيْمٌ ۝ إِذْ تَلَقَّوْنَهُ بِأَلْسِنَتِكُمْ وَتَقُوْلُوْنَ بِأَفْوَاهِكُمْ مَّالَيْسَ لَكُمْ بِهِ عِلْمٌ وَتَحْسَبُوْنَهُ هَيِّنًا وَهُوَ عِنْدَ اللهِ عَظِيْمٌ ۝ (آیت ۱۴، ۱۵ - النور) Words:- *Lamassakum*: indeed it would have touched you, it would have fallen upon you, it would have descended upon you, it would have reached you. *Fima afadtum fihi*: in what you were indulging in, in this nonsense that you were engaging in. *Idh talaqqunahu*: when you were catching this rumor, meaning conveying it from one to another. *Tahsabuun*: you were assuming, considering. *Hayyinan*: easy, ordinary.

Translation:- And this too is the decree of Allah Almighty: "If there were not the grace and mercy of God upon you in this world and the Hereafter, then a great punishment would have descended upon you in return for this gossiping (because) when you were bringing this storm to your tongues and were speaking such things with your mouths of which you had no knowledge. You considered it an easy, ordinary thing... ---

...whereas it was a very great matter in the sight of Allah."

فِيْ حَدِيْثِ الْحُدَيْبِيَّةِ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ فَقَامَ عُرْوَةُ بْنُ مَسْعُوْدٍ فَخَرَجَ حَتّٰى جَاءَ إِلَى قَوْمِهِ فَقَالَ يَامَعْشَرَ قُرَيْشٍ إِنِّي قَدْ وَفَدْتُ عَلَى الْمُلُوْكِ عَلَى قَيْصَرَ فِيْ مُلْكِهِ بِالشَّامِ وَعَلَى النَّجَاشِيِّ بِأَرْضِ الْحَبَشَةِ وَعَلَى كِسْرَى بِالْعِرَاقِ وَإِنِّي وَاللهِ مَا رَأَيْتُ مَلِكًا هُوَ أَعْظَمُ مِمَّنْ هُوَ بَيْنَ ظَهْرَانَيْهِ مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ فِيْ أَصْحَابِهِ - وَاللهِ مَا يَشُدُّوْنَ إِلَيْهِ النَّظَرَ وَمَا يَرْفَعُوْنَ عِنْدَهُ الصَّوْتَ وَمَا يَتَوَضَّأُ بِوَضُوْءٍ إِلَّا ازْدَحَمُوْا عَلَيْهِ أَيُّهُمْ يَظْفَرُ مِنْهُ بِشَيْءٍ (وَفِي رِوَايَة البخارى) ثُمَّ إِنَّ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ مَسْعُوْدٍ جَعَلَ يَرْمُقُ أَصْحَابَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِعَيْنِهِ قَالَ فَوَاللهِ إِنَّهُ لَا يَتَوَضَّأُ إِلَّا ابْتَدَرُوْا وَضُوْءَهُ وَكَادُوْا يَقْتَتِلُوْنَ عَلَيْهِ - وَلَا يَبْصُقُ بُصَاقًا وَلَا يَتَنَخَّمُ نُخَامَةً إِلَّا تَلَقَّوْهَا فَدَلَكُوْا بِهَا وُجُوْهَهُمْ وَأَجْسَادَهُمْ - وَلَا تَسْقُطُ مِنْهُ شَعْرَةٌ إِلَّا ابْتَدَرُوْهَا - وَإِذَا أَمَرَهُمْ بِأَمْرٍ اِبْتَدَرُوْا أَمْرَهُ - وَإِذَا تَكَلَّمُوْا اِخْفَضُوْا أَصْوَاتَهُمْ عِنْدَهُ ، وَمَا يُحِدُّوْنَ إِلَيْهِ نَظَرًا - (شفا صـ ٦٦ پ ۱) Translation:- It is narrated from Hazrat Urwah bin Zubair (a Tabi'i) in a long hadith regarding Hudaybiyyah. He says that Urwah bin Mas'ud stood up, then came out from there until he came to his people. Then he began to say, "O assembly of Quraysh! I have gone as an envoy to kings. To Caesar in his kingdom meaning Sham (Syria), and to Negus in the land of Habasha (Abyssinia), and to Khosrau in Iraq. Then by Allah, I have not seen any king who was more revered than this one who is in your midst, Muhammad (ﷺ), among his companions. By Allah, these people do not fix their gaze towards him (meaning towards Muhammad ﷺ) and do not raise their voices near him. Muhammad (ﷺ) does not perform ablution (wudu) except that these people crowd over the water of his ablution, who among them will be successful in obtaining a little water?" (And in the narration of Sahih Bukhari it is that) Then Urwah bin Mas'ud started looking at the Companions of the Prophet with piercing eyes. He said, by Allah, he does not perform ablution except that people rush towards his ablution water and it is close that they would fight over it, and he does not spit and does not blow his nose except that people take it and rub it on their faces and bodies. Not a single hair of his falls except that people rush to pick it up. And when he gives them an order, they (meaning the Companions) act upon it immediately. When people speak, they keep their voices low near him, and they do not stare at him. (This hadith is also in Bukhari and is also in the first part of "Shifa")

عَنِ الْوَازِعِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ قَالَ : قَدِمْنَا فَقِيْلَ ذَاكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ فَاَخَذْنَا بِيَدَيْهِ وَرِجْلَيْهِ نُقَبِّلُهَا - *(Narrated by Bukhari in Al-Adab Al-Mufrad)*

Vocabulary: قَدِمْنَا: We arrived, we reached. ذَاكَ: This (pointing out) أَخَذْنَا: We took. يَدٌ: Hand. رِجْلٌ: Foot (plural: اَرْجُلٌ). رَجُلٌ: Man (plural: رِجَالٌ). رَجِلٌ: On foot. رِجْلٌ: Infantry, foot soldiers.

Translation: It is narrated by Hazrat Wazi' bin Amir (RA): They said that we arrived, so it was said to us that this is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So we took hold of both His hands and His feet and started kissing them. (Imam Bukhari has recorded this Hadith in "Al-Adab Al-Mufrad")

عَنْ صُهَيْبٍ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ يُقَبِّلُ يَدَيِ الْعَبَّاسِ وَرِجْلَيْهِ - *(Al-Bukhari in Al-Adab Al-Mufrad)*

Hazrat Suhaib (RA) narrates: He said that I saw Hazrat Ali (RA) kissing both the hands and both the feet of Hazrat Abbas (RA). (Imam Bukhari has also written this Hadith in Al-Adab Al-Mufrad).

عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عَسَّالٍ قَالَ يَهُوْدِيٌّ لِصَاحِبِهِ اِذْهَبْ بِنَا إِلَى هَذَا النَّبِيِّ فَقَالَ لَهُ صَاحِبُهُ لَا تَقُلْ نَبِيٌّ أَنَّهُ لَوْ سَمِعَكَ لَكَانَ لَهُ أَرْبَعُ أَعْيُنٍ - فَأَتَيَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَأَلَاهُ عَنْ آيَاتٍ بَيِّنَاتٍ - فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تُشْرِكُوا بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا وَلَا تَسْرِقُوا وَلَا تَزْنُوا وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا النَّفْسَ الَّتِي حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَلَا تَمْشُوا بِبَرِئٍ إِلَى ذِي سُلْطَانٍ لِيَقْتُلَهُ - وَلَا تَسْحَرُوا وَلَا تَأْكُلُوا الرِّبَوا - وَلَا تَقْذِفُوا مُحْصَنَةً - وَلَا تُوَلُّوا الْفِرَارَ يَوْمَ الزَّحْفِ وَعَلَيْكُمْ خَاصَّةً الْيَهُودُ أَنْ لَا تَعْتَدُوا فِي السَّبْتِ - قَالَ فَقَبَّلَا يَدَيْهِ وَرِجْلَيْهِ - وَقَالَا نَشْهَدُ إِنَّكَ نَبِيٌّ قَالَ مَا يَمْنَعُكُمْ أَنْ تَتَّبِعُونِي - قَالَا إِنَّ دَاوُدَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ دَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنْ لَّا يَزَالَ مِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِهِ نَبِيٌّ - وَإِنَّا نَخَافُ إِنْ تَبِعْنَاكَ أَنْ يَقْتُلَنَا الْيَهُودُ - *(Narrated by Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, and Nasa'i - Mishkat)*

Vocabulary: اِذْهَبْ: Go! اِذْهَبْ بِنَا: Take us. صَاحِبٌ: Friend, companion. أَرْبَعُ أَعْيُنٍ: Four eyes. آيَاتٍ بَيِّنَاتٍ: Clear signs, commands. لَا تُشْرِكُوا: Do not commit shirk. لَا تَسْرِقُوا: Do not steal. لَا تَزْنُوا: Do not commit adultery. لَا تَمْشُوا بِبَرِئٍ: Do not take an innocent person to. لَا تَسْحَرُوا: Do not practice magic. لَا تَأْكُلُوا: Do not eat. الرِّبَوا: Usury, interest. لَا تَقْذِفُوا: Do not falsely accuse. لَا تُوَلُّوا: Do not turn your back, do not flee. يَوْمَ الزَّحْفِ: Day of battle. لَا تَعْتَدُوا: Do not transgress, do not go beyond the limits. السَّبْتِ: Saturday. مَا يَمْنَعُكُمْ: What prevents you. دَعَا: Prayed. أَنْ لَّا يَزَالَ: That there will always be. ---

Translation: Hazrat Safwan bin Assal (RA) narrates: A Jew said to his friend, "Take us to this Prophet." So his friend said to him, "Do not call him a Prophet! If he hears you, he will have four eyes." Then they both came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked Him about clear verses, meaning commands and signs. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not associate anything in worship with Allah, do not steal, do not commit adultery, and do not kill a soul that Allah has forbidden except by right (meaning if someone kills, then his retaliation is necessary), and do not take an innocent person to a person of authority so that he may kill him, and do not practice magic, and do not consume interest, and do not falsely accuse a chaste woman, and do not flee on the day of battle by turning your back. And this is a special command for you, O Jews! That you do not transgress on Saturday (i.e., do not hunt)." The narrator says that those two Jews kissed both the hands and both the feet of the Prophet and said, "We testify that You are a Prophet." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Then what prevents you from following Me?" They said, "Dawud (AS) had prayed to his Lord that a Prophet may always remain in his progeny. And we fear that if we follow You, the Jews will kill us." (This Hadith is also narrated by Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, and Nasa'i, and is also in Mishkat)

Friends! Reflect a little on these Ahadith. One has to bow down when kissing feet. The action that was performed in front of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the Prophet ﷺ did not forbid it, then that action is Sunnah. Therefore, bowing down in respect for someone is not a prostration, which is why it is not forbidden. Otherwise, His Highness ﷺ would not have permitted it and would have forbidden it immediately. The intention for prostration is to prostrate, and seven (7) body parts, both feet, both knees, both palms, and the forehead touching the ground is necessary. Bear this in mind well. Those people who forbid bowing down of this kind, which is a teaching of Islam, are actually enemies of Islam, who burn with jealousy at the respect for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and they are the ones who say "fī an-nār wa as-saqar" (in the fire and hell). Who is listening to their nonsense?

فِي حَدِيثِ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ : ثُمَّ دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْبَيْتَ فَصَلَّى فِيهِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَرَأَى فِيهِ تِمْثَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ وَإِسْحَقَ قَدْ جَعَلُوا فِي يَدِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْأَزْلَامَ يَسْتَقْسِمُ بِهَا - فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " قَاتَلَهُمُ اللهُ - مَا كَانَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ يَسْتَقْسِمُ بِالْأَزْلَامِ " ثُمَّ دَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِزَعْفَرَانٍ فَلَطَخَهُ بِتِلْكَ التَّمَاثِيلِ - *(From Jabir bin Samura)*

Vocabulary: تِمْثَالٌ: Picture, idol. الْأَزْلَامَ: Plural of زَلَمٌ, diving arrows. يَسْتَقْسِمُ: To seek one's fortune.

يَسْتَقْسِمُ بِالْأَزْلَامِ: Used to test their fortune with arrows. لَطَّخَ و لُطِّخَ : Smeared, daubed. Translation: In the Hadith of the conquest of Makkah, it is mentioned that then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the Holy House (Haram), and prayed two Raka'ats there. In it, He saw pictures of Hazrat Ibrahim, Ismail, and Ishaq (AS) and in the hand of Ibrahim were arrows by which they sought fortune. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "May Allah kill them (who have depicted this). Ibrahim never used to seek fortune by arrows." Then the Messenger of God sent for saffron and applied it to those pictures, meaning He erased them. (Kanz al-'Ummal)

Friends! Despite the fact that these pictures were of Prophets, they were removed with respect, by applying saffron! عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ قَالَ لَمَّا وَلِيَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ خَطَبَ النَّاسَ عَلَى مِنْبَرِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ يَأَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنِّي قَدْ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّكُمْ تُؤْيِسُونَ مِنِّي غِلْظَةً وَذَالِكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَكُنْتُ عَبْدَهُ وَخَادِمَهُ وَكَانَ كَمَا قَالَ اللهُ تَعَالَى : "بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَحِيمًا" فَكُنْتُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ كَالسَّيْفِ الْمَسْلُولِ إِلَّا أَنْ يُعْمِدَنِي أَوْ يَنْهَانِي عَنْ أَمْرٍ فَأَكُفَّ وَإِلَّا أَقْدَمْتُ عَلَى النَّاسِ لِمَكَانِ لِينِهِ - *(Extracted by Al-Hakim in Al-Mustadrak and he said the Hadith has a Sahih Isnad)*

Vocabulary: وَلِيَ: Became ruler, caliph. خَطَبَ النَّاسَ: Addressed the people. أَثْنَى: Praised, glorified. تُؤْيِسُونَ: You find. مِنِّي: From me. سَيْفٌ: Sword. ضَيْفٌ: Season of heat. مَسْلُولٌ: Drawn. بِي نِيَامٌ - يُغْمِدُنِي: Put me in the sheath. Translation: It is narrated from Hazrat Saeed bin Al-Musayyab (RH). He says that when Hazrat Umar bin Al-Khattab (RA) became the ruler (Caliph), he gave a sermon to the people on the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So first he praised and glorified Allah. Then he said, "O people! Without a doubt I know that you find harshness in me. The reason for this is that I used to stay with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So I was a servant and a khadim of His Highness ﷺ and His Highness ﷺ was exactly as Allah Ta'ala has said, "merciful to the believers". So I used to remain before Him like a drawn sword, unless the Messenger of God ﷺ sheathed me or forbade me from some matter, then I would stop. Otherwise, I would leap upon people due to the softness of His Highness ﷺ." (Hakim has recorded this Hadith in Mustadrak and said that this Hadith is Sahih in terms of its chain of narrators) ---
