بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

88:1

هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ

(۱) کیا تم کو اطلاع ہے قیامت کی سرگزشت کی، واقعہ کی۔

(1) Has there come to you the account of the Overwhelming Event (the story of the Day of Resurrection)?

88:2

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ

(۲) بعض چہرے اس دن ذلیل و خوار ہوں گے۔

(2) Some faces on that day will be downcast and humiliated.

88:3

عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ

(۳) بعض چہرے (قیامت کے دن مصیبت اُٹھانے سے) خستہ حال ہوں گے۔

(3) Some faces (worn out from enduring hardship on the Day of Resurrection) will be weary and exhausted.

88:4

تَصْلَى نَارًا حَامِيَةً

(۴) (بدلوگ) مشتعل آگ میں داخل ہوں گے (نذر آتش سوزاں ہوں گے)۔

(4) (The wicked) will enter a blazing fire (burning in the scorching flames).

88:5

تُسْقَى مِنْ عَيْنٍ آنِيَةٍ

(۵) (بدلوگوں کو) کھولتے چشمے سے (گرم پانی) پیتا پڑے گا۔

(5) (The wicked) will be given to drink from a boiling spring (forced to drink scalding water).

88:6

لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ

(۶) ان کو ضریع گھاس کے سوا کھانا نصیب نہ ہوگا۔

(6) They will have no food except from a thorny shrub (ḍarīʿ).

88:7

لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِن جُوعٍ

(۷) (یہ گھاس) نہ فربہ کرسکتی ہے اور نہ بھوک ہی کو دفع کرسکتی ہے۔

(7) (That herbage) cannot fatten nor can it relieve hunger.

88:8

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ

(۸) بعض چہرے قیامت کے دن ہشاش بشاش، تر و تازہ ہوں گے۔

(8) Some faces on that day will be radiant and fresh, bright and cheerful.

88:9

لِسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ

(۹) اپنی کوششوں اور سعی کی وجہ سے خوش اور راضی ہوں گے۔

(9) Pleased and satisfied on account of their efforts and striving.

88:10

فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ

(۱۰) (جنتی) بہشت بریں میں ہوں گے (عالیشان باغ میں ہوں گے)۔

(10) In a lofty Garden (a magnificent Paradise) they will be.

88:11

لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَاغِيَةً

(۱۱) جنتی جنت میں کوئی لغو باتیں نہ سنیں گے۔

(11) Therein they will hear no idle or frivolous talk.

88:12

فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ

(۱۲) اس میں بہتے چشمے ہوں گے۔

(12) In it there will be flowing springs.

88:13

فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ

(۱۳) اس میں اعلیٰ درجے کے (اور مصوفے) تخت ہوں گے۔

(13) In it there will be raised couches (of high rank and splendour).

88:14

وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ

(۱۴) اور کٹورے دھرے ہوں گے۔

(14) And goblets placed ready (at hand).

88:15

وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ

(۱۵) اور گدّی ایک دوسرے کے قریب رکھے ہوئے صف زدہ ہوں گے۔

(15) And cushions (bolsters) arranged in rows, placed close to one another.

88:16

وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ

(۱۶) اور قالین بچھے ہوئے ہوں گے۔

(16) And carpets/rugs spread out.

88:17

أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى الْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ

(۱۷) کیا یہ لوگ بارش پر غور و فکر نہیں کرتے کہ وہ کس طرح پیدا ہوتی ہے۔

(17) Do these people not reflect on the rain — how it is created?

88:18

وَإِلَى السَّمَاءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ

(۱۸) اور (کیا یہ لوگ) آسمان کو (نہیں دیکھتے) کہ وہ کس طرح بلند ہے (اور وہ دنیا پر چھاجاتا ہے)۔

(18) And (do these people not look) at the sky — how it is raised aloft (and spreads over the world)?

88:19

وَإِلَى الْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ

(۱۹) اور (کیا یہ لوگ) پہاڑوں کو (نہیں دیکھتے) کہ وہ کس طرح نصب کئے گئے ہیں۔

(19) And (do these people not look) at the mountains — how they have been set up?

88:20

وَإِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ

(۲۰) اور (کیا یہ لوگ) زمین کو (نہیں دیکھتے) کہ وہ کس طرح مسطح اور ہموار بنائی گئی ہے۔

(20) And (do these people not look) at the earth — how it has been spread out and levelled?

88:21

فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ

(۲۱) پس (اے پیغمبر!) تم تو نصیحت کے لئے جاؤ تم صرف (ناصح اور) مذکّر ہو۔

(21) So (O Prophet!) you go forth only for admonition — you are solely a reminder (and admonisher).

88:22

لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ

(۲۲) تم ان پر زبردستی کرنے والے تو نہیں۔

(22) You are not one to compel them by force.

88:23

إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ

(۲۳) (ان کی طرف فکر نہ کرو) ان کی طرف سے غم نہ کھاؤ۔ مگر جو پہلو تہی کرے، حق پوشی کرے۔

(23) (Do not concern yourself with them) — do not grieve over them — except the one who turns away and conceals the truth.

88:24

فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللَّهُ الْعَذَابَ الْأَكْبَرَ

(۲۴) پس اس (بے دین) کو اللہ سخت سزا دے گا۔

(24) Allah will afflict that (irreligious one) with the severest punishment.

88:25

إِنَّ إِلَيْنَا إِيَابَهُمْ

(۲۵) بے شک ان کو ہمارے دربار میں حاضر ہونا ہے۔

(25) Surely their return is to Us.

88:26

ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُمْ

(۲۶) پھر یقیناً ہم پر لازم ہے کہ ان سے حساب کتاب لیں، (بازپرس کریں)۔

(26) Then it is certainly incumbent upon Us to take account of them (and call them to reckoning).
